WEB APP FOR CYCLING EFFICIENCY CALCULATION

We have just launched the KIW Web App designed to calculate Cycling Efficiency and compare your results against benchmark values.
What is Cycling Efficiency?
Cycling Efficiency represents how effectively your body converts metabolic energy into mechanical power at the pedals. In simple terms, it reflects how much of the energy you produce is transformed into watts that propel the bike forward.
Cycling Efficiency can explain differences in threshold power output between individuals with similar VO2max and fractional utilization of VO2max at thresholds. In other words, when two athletes have comparable VO₂max values and similar percentages of VO₂max at threshold, a higher Cycling Efficiency can help explain why one athlete produces a higher Critical Power (CP) or Functional Threshold Power (FTP) than the other.
How Does the App Work?
It uses expired gas exchange data collected with a metabolic cart to calculate Cycling Efficiency.
If you have access to a metabolic cart, the app will guide you through selecting the appropriate test data and performing the Cycling Efficiency calculations.
If you do not have access to a metabolic cart, but have previously completed a laboratory test that included gas exchange measurements, you can share the app with the practitioner or laboratory that conducted the assessment and ask them to calculate your Cycling Efficiency using the collected data.
